DEA Takeback Day- April 27, 2024

Unneeded prescription medication—those that are old, unwanted, or no longer needed—are a public safety issue and can be just as dangerous as street drugs when taken without a prescription or a doctor’s supervision. Most people who misuse prescription medication obtained the medicine from a family member or friend. Don't let your medicine cabinet be the source of drugs for anyone. 

Many people do not know how to properly dispose of their unused medicine, often flushing them down the toilet or throwing them away—both potential safety and health hazards. Removing unwanted prescriptions will help keep your home safe and could even save lives.

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.  The Linn County Sheriffs Department and the DEA are sponsoring the DEA National Take Back day on April 27, 2024.  Turn in uneeded medication for safe disposal.  For more information, please see https://www.dea.gov/takebackday

Local drop off locations will include:

1) Mill City City Hall- 444 S 1st Ave- 9:00-10:00 AM

2) Scio Fire Hall- 38975 SW 6th Ave.- 10:30-11:30 AM

3) Halsey City Hall- 100 Halsey St.- 1:00-2:00 pm

4) Harrisburg City Hall- 120 Smith St.- 2:30-3:30 pm
