Flushing

While the City of Millersburg has high-quality treated water, natural sediment and mineral deposits, as well as deposits related to housing construction, can accumulate in the Millersburg distribution system over time. The City of Albany's Operations staff flush one third of the lines annually for the following purposes:

• Improve water quality
• Remove sediment and deposits
• Check valves, hydrants, and blow offs to ensure they are operable
• Test flow and pressure
• Improve the hydraulic capacity of the pipes which improves pumping efficiency
• Identify problems and schedule repairs
