The City has reserved 9.5 acres of City owned land for development of a commercial center near City Hall.  The City’s vision for this property is community center area residents can walk, bike, or drive to, with a center courtyard designed to accommodate outdoor activities and dining.  The location of the proposed future YMCA facility is adjacent to the commercial center. The commercial center would provide shops and community services and could include commercial businesses such as a restaurant, coffees shop, bakery, urgent care, postal services, and hair care and/or professional services such as attorneys, CPAs, and insurance providers.  This commercial center also has the potential to be developed as a live-work environment, with housing located above retail services.

Future YMCA Facility

The City’s vision includes the development of a new YMCA facility across Conser Road from the proposed school site adjacent to a new commercial center.  This facility, in addition, to providing recreation services, is envisioned to provide 24/7 childcare to accommodate work schedules common to our local industries and the needs of our citizens. 

Future School Site

The City has made Greater Albany Public Schools (GAPS) aware we have set aside approximately 17 acres of land behind City Hall for a future elementary school and community sports fields.   This site is located in close proximity to Millersburg Park and the future YMCA facility, providing additional facilities within a short walking distance.
